A must visit when in Boken hill. Given the historical significance of minerals to existence of the town, a background is important. The museum is well thoughtout and interesting with wonderful exhibits. The staff are extremely helpful and friendly. Thoroughly recommended.
What a peculiar little museum. It is worth a visit, there is a lot of information to take in for a layperson. It would be great for someone interested in mineralogy, geology etc. There's a good explanation of Broken Hill's street names.
Visited broken hill for the day, really cool displays. Really helpful and lovely people, showed us places to stay and gave information on the geodes etc
I brought my 2 children in last Wednesday, and it was really interesting. Lots to see and very educational. The gentleman at the desk was incredibly knowledgeable and helpful and took lots of time talking to my son and giving him ideas and print outs on how to make one of the minerals. He also pointed out some places to go where you could find some of these rocks/ minerals. We went to one of these old mines and the kids spent ages finding different items of interest. My son really wanted to go back to the museum and show the gentleman his findings to find out what they were, but we ran out of time. 5/5 stars. Thank you so much!!
This was well worth the entry fee and, for us, was one of the highlights. There are many places to see but this one is highly recommended. The video of the local geology was informative and really showed the uniqueness of Broken Hill. There was enough there for all the family.
